Race as the 2nd Prince Charming
April 30, 2002
in his third grade play "Little Red Writing Hood".

The four third grade classes at Race's school received a performing arts grant to go to one of the local high schools and perform a four part play. Each play was separate from the others, but tied together with a learning theme. Race's classroom preformed "Little Red Writing Hood" in which Red decided to re-write a few favorite fairy tales. It was working out great until the characters started running into problems.  Red had sent Little Miss Muffet off with Prince Charming which highly upset Cinderella. Thus the need for the second Prince Charming (Race). In the end Red decides that the stories are best left as they were written. All are happy except the wolf. He had been turned into a ballet dancer complete with tutu, lol. Red happily re-stores her story to it's original form only for the wolf to realize he gets killed in the end. The kids did an awesome job!! and had the audience roaring with laughter! They also thought it great to preform on stage with the help of the high schoolers. They also got to eat in the high school cafeteria on dress rehersal day and the day of the preformance. I think this was the real highlight, McDonald's and Taco Bell are offered daily, lol.

The other plays were..."The Court of King Arithmetic", "The Trail of Mother Goose", and "The Search for the Notorious Geo Leo".  All the kids did a great job including the high school drama team that worked patiently with the younger kids, prepared props, ran the lights, etc, etc. A special thank you to the grant writer's for making this performance happen and for getting the entire second and fourth grade classes there to watch. How awesome it must have been for the kids to play to a "full house"!
