As always I apologize for the poor quality of the pics, but
for a free camera I can't expect much. It at least allows me to share photos with you. To anyone considering getting
a pet, any pet, please contact your local shelters and rescue centers. Our rodents have all been purchased or received
free from pet stores, but I now know shelters and rescue centers are in serious need of help. By buying from pet stores this
only encourages the continued breeding of animals when there are already so many pets out there needing homes.
I had no idea until doing research on our male pigs. My mom recently adopted a cat from the humane society and the shelter
was full of hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, and rats as well as cats and dogs. At that time they didn't have any pigs as
they had just been adopted. Remember unless a shelter is a no kill shelter all of these animals are killed unless they find
homes. On July 10th, 2003 we drove to Joliet, IL to adopt Kia from a rescue near Chicago. She is a wonderful addition
to our home and is worth every minute we spent going to get her! She was rescued from a shelter in Indiana (Thank you
Rose!). Her owner had given up 28 guinea pigs because she could no longer care for them. I guess I can't think bad of
the woman, because if she hadn't given up Kia I wouldn't have her. Kia is the sweetest little lap piggie I could ask
for! Her offical name is Kia Rose Whitecastle! Race is now trying to think up full names for his boys, Spunk and
Rye. ;-) Housing same sex pigs together eliminates breeding and is recommended for all animals that are not or
cannot be spayed or neutered. Always have your dogs and cats spayed or neutered (just in case)! If you're looking
to adopt a pet check places like http://www.petfinder.com, http://www.pets911.com/, http://www.1-800-save-a-pet.com/index.tcl and your local shelters, rescue centers, vet offices, newspapers, etc. Thanks for looking at our site!
